Orange Slovensko, Slovakia

Objective

Orange Slovensko acquired a 42 GHz license and was looking to utilise this spectrum to pilot super-fast broadband access across 3 cities in Slovakia,
including the capital, Bratislava. The project involved building the wireless broadband infrastructure from Node to Network Terminating Equipment, with 3 Central Transmission Hubs, delivering super-fast broadband to pilot clients.

Requirements

Deliver better than ADSL2+ services to target clients, without the need to trench or deploy further fibre infrastructure across medium range distances. Demonstrate the viability of Bluwan’s FTTA Residential solution to deliver bandwidth equivalent to an FTTC deployment.

Solution

Bluwan delivered its FTTA Residential Access solution, which included Central Transmission Hubs for 3 cities, several Point to Multipoint sectors to provide high capacity/throughput internet to all Network Terminating Equipment (Bluwan Box) using 42 GHz downstream (data offload) and C band upstream (for cost effective asymmetric access). This resulted in 30 Mbps provisioned
internet service to the premises, along with side-loaded SD and HD television broadcast delivery, at medium range distance of up to 3 km.
